Acne
What is Acne and what causes it?
Acne is a common skin condition that arises when hair follicles beneath the skin become clogged with oil (sebum) and dead skin cells, leading to whiteheads, blackheads, pustules, and nodules.
Excess sebum production, accumulation of dead skin cells, and bacteria like Propionibacterium acnes are primary causes, often exacerbated by hormonal changes during puberty, menstruation, pregnancy, or due to certain medications.
Genetics, diet, and stress also play a role. While acne is frequently associated with teenagers, adult acne is increasingly prevalent, affecting individuals in their 20s, 30s, and 40s.
